The Camino de Santiago is punctuated
by small towns, villages and hamlets, all welcome watering holes.
This section shows only the main ones (in their Camino sequence),
important either for nostalgic reasons or, equally significantly, the
availability of a nice cold beer.
Somewhat disappointingly, on my return (by car) in 2014, they all seemed
rather uninspiring, partly because I was not thirsty, partly due to the
absence of the Camino spirit, partly the incessant rain and probably
more importantly, you only see the messy bits from the road. So,
if you find yourself in this part of the world, do not be put off by the
unprepossessing landscape, but get out and walk a bit away from the
centres of these villages along the Camino and into the countryside. |
