So impressed was I by my first visit
to Galicia along the Camino, that I began harbouring dreams of retiring
to this idyllic region. After all it has beautiful scenery,
excellent food, good wine, amazing architecture, hospitable people...all
combined with affordable property prices and enough rainfall to ensure
we would not die of thirst come the revolution.
Apparently 80% of pilgrims develop similar
fantasies including the idea of running a quaint little hostelry
somewhere along the Camino. This is about as realistic as any of
those mid-life crisis plans along the lines of opening a pub in rural
England, but we decided that it was at least worth a second visit to get
a better idea of the area. And so we decided to visit in November
when the crowds were gone and the weather more typical of the
off-season.
So that means the images of the Camino are from
the pilgrimage of 2007 with fine weather in September, whilst the
coastal views are from a typical wet November in 2014. |
