Lavacolla is a quiet town.
Once the final stop off for pilgrims who would wash themselves before
going on to Santiago 10km further along the Camino. Absolutely
nothing happening, but a very comfortable, if rather anonymous hotel,
offering generous discounts to pilgrims and an excellent set menu to
restore anyone's spirits. After all the
sore feet and sweat, I feel suddenly disappointed that tomorrow will be
the last day of my journey; no more birds singing in the chill of dawn,
fresh smells of wild herbs and forests and the companionship of my fellow
travellers. However, on reflection, I am glad that I am not a
medieval pilgrim and that I can take the train rather than having to walk
all the way home again! |
