According to Wikipedia,
Southwell is best known for its Minster, the seat of the Church of
England diocese which covers Nottinghamshire. To most of us, it is
even better known for the inability of its less than 7,000 residents who
cannot decide how to pronounce its name. Also home to some
interesting architecture, not least the famous autonomous house built by
Robert and Brenda Vale in 1993, and the nearby Hockerton Housing Project
which will one day feature in my Troglodyte Homes section. |
