Inevitably, on my second visit to Santiago, a
comfortable driving holiday accompanied by her indoors, I succumbed to
the delights of the Parador, one of the oldest hotels in the world and
most expensive Paradors in the country. I was a little
disappointed, not that it was in any way deficient (apart from their
choosing to host a BMW promotional event to coincide with our arrival,
so beset incongruously with auto trade floosies), but that I had somehow
assumed it would be so much better than all the other Paradors we had
visited. One becomes a trifle blasé staying in endless palaces,
monasteries and other historic buildings! |
