Elton itself is a pleasant enough little village lying along a ridge which gives it excellent views over the valley towards the hills beyond.  It even boasts a church, chapel, community centre and a pub although not once in the years I visited has it ever been open!

However, it is as a starting point for many an enjoyable walk that I visited so often. There are several routes you  can take to include one or more of the local landmarks including stone circles, woods and the Limestone Way, not to mention the usual spectacular scenery.
