Despite being so close to London, it is relatively peaceful. It
contains some of England's greatest architecture and monuments, exceptional
restaurants, hotels, art galleries and museums all much more accessible than
in London.
Oxford is a cultural gem, but even outside the city itself, there are many
historical centres. There is still life in the villages and you can
enjoy that most English pastime, cricket on the village green, followed by
warm beer or cucumber sandwiches...
...or even Morris dancing. Now, I know that some literary wag once
said that you should try everything once, except incest and Morris dancing,
but it really is a fairly harmless pursuit. |
