The Lake District probably would be a
Wordsworthian Paradise, if only it were not for the tourists. The
relative accessibility from the South of England makes it a viable weekend
destination and thus London prices (almost) and, inevitably, London traffic.
You can leave as early or as late as you like, but at some point you will
find yourself stuck in an interminable queue of traffic comprising cars full
of screaming kids, caravans blocking the picturesque, but dysfunctional,
local roads... |
