If you ask most people what they know about Bhutan, you are usually met with blank looks, particularly from our American cousins.

"Is that near Sweden?"

However, for those who actually know where it is or have even heard of it, Bhutan is famous, or infamous, depending on your politics, for being a Buddhist State, for being disingenuously concerned with Gross National Happiness, for their obsession with the phallus and archery, their colourful festivals...and their apparent inability to build a single decent road.

So, just in case you thought this was all a trifle exaggerated...
