"Landmark building for its architecture, technology and sustainability"...according to their own web site.

Cesar Pelli's attempt to fob off a characterless tower "the tallest in Bilbao" on the hitherto unsuspecting Bilbao populace.  Like all pointless towers, it runs into problems as soon as it hits the ground, crashing absurdly into the Euskadi Plaza and proving that even the moderate climate of Bilbao can be whipped into a tornado by the forces of nature versus ego.

"By building upwards they have released a large area for public use around the base".  Hmmm, where have I heard that before?  How long before they realise that Bilbao really needs another car park?  Well done Mr Pelli, another victory for verticality, but remember:  "just because you can do it, doesn't mean you have to."
