The Swedes have a bizarre habit of translating place and other names into English, even though most native English speakers would be hard pushed to tell you where or what a cloudberry (hjortron; a fruit unknown in UK), Dalecarlia (Dalarna; a region of central Sweden) or pike-perch (gös; a local fish) is or was. And why do they insist on saying something costs so and so many crowns, when we know their currency as the krona? So it is also with Skåne, the region on the Southern tip of Sweden which they now insist we call Scania (a name apparently invented by the Romans), forcing Wikipedia to include a disambiguation entry to ensure we do not think that 13% of Sweden's population live in a truck! All you really need to know about the region is that they speak an incomprehensible dialect of Swedish...or near perfect English.
