Santa Croce

Another basilica, but this time with pointy arches on the front, so that makes it somewhat younger than San Miniato.  Started at the end of the thirteenth century, it took even longer than Crossrail to complete and was not finished until the mid-fifteenth century, probably with significant cost overruns, but by then they had almost certainly forgotten the original builder's estimate.

Also the burial place of some quite famous renaissance chappies such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo...
