Oropesa

Oropesa is a strange town, dominated by the tourist Parador, one of my favourites, with fabulous views across the plain to the Sierra de Gredos in the far distance. Other than that, despite numerous monumental buildings in ruins, some somewhat optimistically half restored, the place seems to comprise almost entirely run down or closed down bars and restaurants...and that was in peak tourist season.
