There is, of
course, a lot more to Consuegra than the famous Don Quixote
windmills and the castle on the hill. The Plaza Mayor, church
and numerous fascinating, historic buildings to name but a few.
But then in Spain you do get rather blasé about the level of
heritage buildings so here I focus just on the windmills, reason
enough on their own to make the journey.
Like many of Spain's windmills and even modern
wind turbines, these are built along the ridge to make the most of
the increased wind speed at that point; the tops of the mills alone
rotate to follow the prevailing wind. |
