Mercato Nuovo

One of the things I love about European architecture is its historical understatement.

So, just as Edinburgh's New Town, started in the middle of the eighteenth century predates virtually every US building of any note, so here we have the "new" market which was constructed in the sixteenth century.

Frustratingly it is host to some of the inevitable tourist tat vendors, along with some quite reasonable local products with stalls blocking the view throughout the daylight hours.  Hence the night-time photos!
