A perfect example of gentrification!  The Mercato Centrale does, however, still retain a few proper food stalls, but most of it is exotic items like crystallised violets and dried porcini mushrooms, with several trendy coffee and expensive sandwich bars.  Said coffee bars so divorced from the realities of life that they do not seem to open until well into the day by which time I am gasping for my first proper coffee.
