Liulichang used to be an authentic Chinese street of artisan and antique shops between the Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen, surrounded by traditional hutongs.  Now becoming increasingly sanitised with replicas to replace the original buildings, tacky tourist tat to replace the antiques and H&M ironically purveying mass produced cheap clothes made in China to replace the old shops which used to sell cheap handmade clothes made in China...

Still many of the hutongs remain...as do the stinking public toilets!
