Duomo

There really is nothing I could add to the limitless descriptions, explanations and stories about this truly magnificent piece of architecture, other than to say that it has remained one of my favourite buildings of all time since I first gazed up at the facade over forty years ago.  Quite apart from the ground-breaking technical ingenuity of the dome itself, it is an utterly awe-inspiring space on the inside and a stunning sculpture on the outside.

It is not only a perfect focus for any landscape photograph of the city, but also provides some great views from the cupola, although not one for those suffering from vertigo.
