Just round the corner from the Chinese
consulate. Even if your only reason for a visit is to while away a
couple of hours whilst you wait for your Chinese visa to be processed (that
was before they decided it was much too convenient to process visas on the
day and now insist you travel to Manchester twice for the privilege), then
this is a most enjoyable way to spend your time. Alongside some rather
odd contemporary stuff, reminders of what made Manchester one of the worlds
greatest cities of all time.
And, (other museums take note), they
allow photography and in deference to the paranoid copyright seekers, they
charge you a fee to do so. I have no problem with paying for the
privilege of photographing beautiful objects in private buildings; I do have
a problem with not being permitted to do so at all. Let me think now.
How will they earn more money?
-
a) prohibiting photography
-
b) charging for it.
