Made the
mistake of believing the guide book about the existence of
troglodyte dwellings, but without doing enough research to establish
their precise whereabouts. As we were in a bit of a hurry
(unnecessarily so it transpired) to meet convoy for desert crossing
we ended up just enjoying some spectacular views and an interesting
village rather than finding the caves...need to go back again
someday!
Although you
can get there along the Wadi in about 8 km, the approach is far more
impressive if you take the turn from main Chinguetti piste (about
11km out of Ouadane), then descend from plateau down rocky piste
into Wadi.
