Probably the perfect icon of Dubai! Admittedly rather impressive (if obscene wealth is your thing), particularly at night, but beneath the skin you realise what a profligate waste of resources complete with helicopter landing pad...and the air-conditioning bill from hell. The beach in the foreground is the one they have had to close due to contamination with raw sewage; never mind, you can always stay inside your 7-star cocoon and stare out at the ocean, but why would you want to go to Dubai in the first place, other than to flaunt your wealth?
